Tom Cain, our Co-Chair, January 2007 Volunteer of the month, helps Keep
Georgia Beautiful. Keeping Georgia Beautiful is a family affair for Tom Cain,
Volunteer of the month. His passion for the environment drew him and his
family to volunteer with Keep South Fulton Beautiful, a non-profit organization
that
focuses on the environment, quality of life and public safety.
Cain, his wife, Carol, and children, have helped create the Chattahoochee
River Ride -- an educational and fun 12-mile river trip. They are also active with
the community 4th of July parade and other festivals. "Cain is definitely one of
your employees that cares about his company, the community in which he works
and lives," said Judy Noles, executive director, Keep South Fulton Beautiful.
"Tom provides inspiring leadership, and helped in our transition into the
non-profit we are today." After eight years of services, Cain now sits on the
board of directors.
Noles, who nominated Cain for the award, describes him as a quiet, thoughtful
man. "I wanted to let people know how special he is, and about all his good
work," she said.Cain is completing his third decade with the Ford Motor
Company. As the regional human resources manager for Ford Customer Service
in Atlanta, he visits Ford facilities from Hartford, Conn. to Orlando, Fla.
Traveling has given Cain a deep appreciation of issues facing the Southeast
U.S. In fact, when the State of Georgia learned about Cain's volunteer work with
Keep South Fulton Beautiful, they recruited him to the Keep Georgia Beautiful
Foundation. His leadership is now felt across the state. "When a person gives
that much, he has to have the support of his family and his business," said
Noles. "Ford has been wonderful."
