July 2007 – June 2008 found our currently totally voluntary organization, along with our community partners, promoting and helping to organize 5 community clean-ups and 20 educational presentations, as well as working on a children’s environmental literacy program. We are also collaborating with a local author who is one of our volunteers on an environmental children’s book.  Provided to our citizens and schools were 300 tree seedlings for planting and over 7,000 flower seed packets were passed out, with a few going to Iraq.

Over the last three years, approximately 12.3 million people have viewed the Iron Eyes Coty Anti-Litter PSA’s through Transit TV.   Through a local cable system, 225,000 received information about our program this year.

This year we received no direct government funding and our volunteer hours totaled a worth of $306,431.50 to our South Fulton Citizens.  It is said in building caring communities, credible non-profits help to make the community strong!

Help The Hooch, an initiative from Keep South Fulton Beautiful, later became a regional project. Along with our participating partners, and the other Keep Georgia/Keep America Beautiful Affiliates, we were asked to join the annual state October Clean Rivers Program that is now known as Rivers Alive.  A county Green School program also originated from our Clean Campus program that we implemented back in the early 1990s.

This past year found our program planning a river trip for six leaders on water quality and policy making down the Chattahoochee to Apalachicola Bay for a fact-finding trip.

Biofuels Racing Alliance (www.biofuelsracing.com) and Keep South Fulton Beautiful have joined forces!  We are exacting environmental insight into public action concerning waste vegetable grease.  Alternative energy will continue to be researched and implemented and is very important to our economy.  Waste grease is also a major concern due to damage of water and sewer pipes in our communities.

One of Keep South Fulton Beautiful Board Members has designed and developed RECYCLOPOLY, a new environmental educational board game.  We believe this is an exciting new way of environmental education.  Children love it!  Adults love it! Teachers are very excited about it! It has been presented twice at the Teachers’ National Science Convention.  Please check out www.recyclingworks.us.
